Orders and Rulings

A coroner may make an order or ruling regarding an investigation, or during an inquest.

Orders and rulings are not written findings. They can include, but are not limited to:

a non-publication order restricting the release or publication of some information
a ruling to re-open an investigation
a ruling on whether the coroner has jurisdiction to investigate.

COR 2014 4554	Rutiano Chong Gum	Non-Publication Order	15 July 2015	Coroner Jacqui Hawkins	On Wednesday 15 July 2015, Coroner Hawkins made a Proceeding Suppression Order relating to the investigation into the death of Rutiano CHONG GUM (4554/14). The order prohibits the publication or broadcast of the 'Critical Incident Review - Police Pursuit Pascoe Vale 5 September 2014' by Superintendent Paul Rosenblun and Senior Sergeant John Dimos, except for the front page, not be published or broadcast in Victoria or elsewhere in Australia pursuant to s18(2) of the Open Courts Act 2013.
